Goals


Finance Innovation is a broad initiative of the Paris financial marketplace - banks, insurance companies, asset management companies, providers of services to financial institutions, universities, and research centers.

Its goal is to draw upon the strengths of the Paris financial marketplace in order to create new high value-added industrial and research projects to increase the market share of the French financial industry in Europe and internationally.

Globally recognised strengths of Paris as a financial place are the following:

  • an asset management industry which has based its reputation upon the quality of its expertise, innovative asset management instruments and , and the strength of its industrial players within the global competition.
  • the world leader in the equity derivative industry and very high level in financial mathematics which is key for investment banking;
  • highly competitive technology and distribution networks for investment products destined for the general public;
  • in the field of insurance, a risk analysis center of excellence;
  • a recognised centre for education and research in economics and finance.
  • a competitive back-office industry.

  • FINANCE INNOVATION, has from the outset focused on five strategic objectives, in order to create the adequate knowledge and infrastructure environment to ensure the promotion of financial innovation in Paris :

  • establish Paris as an European financial information platform
  • facilitate the development of financial start-ups and put in place a dedicated financing structure in Paris ;
  • promote financial innovation and research in Paris, in fields such as climate index and risk hedging ;
  • develop international financial education in Paris;
  • develop the link between finance and social innovation and put in place research partnerships on topics such as socially responsible investment or sustainable finance.

    To reach these aims, FINANCE INNOVATION will focus its action in the following fields :

    1. to boost the creation of industrial projects in all segments of the financial industry - banking, insurance, asset management, services for financial institutions - by bringing academic and financial fields together;
    2. to enhance the position of the financial industry in innovative markets;
    3. to develop and coordinate financial research projects and to promote the recognized quality of French financial training;
    4. to accelerate the development of growth companies operating in the financial sector in France.
